Mendelssohn Overture, The Hebrides

Tchaikovsky Variations on a Rococo Theme (Op. 33)

Beethoven Symphony No. 7

The Philharmonia Orchestra return to Windsor for this Black Tie concert in the Waterloo Chamber with an elegant programme of Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. Conducted by Thomas Carroll, it features cellist Jonathan Swensen, winner of the 7thWindsor Festival International String Competition.

Mendelssohn’s concert overture, Fingal’s Cave, sets the scene before Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations provide our dynamic young soloist the opportunity to demonstrate the cello’s full emotional range, with delicate moments and effortless virtuosity.

Concluding with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, known to many recent audiences for its appearance in The King’s Speech, this promises to be a special concert for Windsor Festival's 50th Anniversary year.
