Finnish Folk Music - Pekka Kuusisto Home Video - mid December 2017
Violinist Pekka Kuusisto offers up his last instalment of Finnish folk song, filmed on a snowy afternoon...
It’s getting properly dark in Finland as the nights close in. Violinist Pekka Kuusisto shares “Pirun Polska,” a polska for the Devil, written by Samuel Rinda-Nickola.
Pekka has been sending us videos every few weeks as Finland descends into the darkness of winter. Each video features a traditional folk tune from Finland, performed and filmed by Pekka in his home. This forms part of our digital offering for our involvement in Southbank Centre’s Nordic Matters festival, the Nordic Music Days festival (Sep 2017) and the Finland 100 centenary celebrations. The films will continue through the end of 2017.
