Helena Buckie 2ND VIOLIN

Helena was born in Cambridge and began the violin at the age of three. During a residential music course at the age of 5 she remembers saying ‘this is heaven!’

Helena enjoyed many fantastic years with the National Children’s Orchestra GB and the National Youth Orchestra GB. In 2010 she began her degree at the Royal College of Music where she studied with Levon Chilingirian and Berent Korfker. She graduated from the RCM in July 2014 with first-class honours. For three years Helena has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, with whom she has toured internationally.

Helena is passionate about orchestral music and has appeared with orchestras such as the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, English National Ballet and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. She frequently records for BBC radio 3 and record labels such as Chandos and Warner Classics. She also enjoys performing with various chamber groups and was an artist on the Live Music Now scheme.

Helena’s other passions include travel, cooking and baking, fitness, nutritional therapy and she loves going for long hikes in the Lake District.
