Join The Mahler Syndicate
A philanthropic initiative for Mahler enthusiasts
The Mahler Syndicate is a philanthropic initiative for Mahler enthusiasts who would like to deepen their knowledge of Mahler’s great symphonies.
In the 2017/18 season, the Philharmonia Orchestra will perform five of Mahler’s nine symphonies, partnering with three of the world’s greatest conductors and Mahler interpreters: Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen, newly appointed Principal Guest Conductor Jakub Hrůša, and the young Israeli talent of Lahav Shani.
During the season over 500 musicians will take to the stage to perform these powerful and epochal works. The cost of presenting the Mahler Series is over £500,000. The income we receive through ticket sales, even with sold-out halls, will only cover 35% of these costs. Our public subsidy from Arts Council England helps us to meet some of this deficit, but we are still left with £100,000 to raise.
Joining a concert syndicate is the most direct and effective way to help secure the Orchestra's season of high quality and artistically rewarding performances. In recognition of their support to the 2017/18 Mahler Series, members are invited to join us behind the scenes for an exclusive programme of events with the series’ world-class conductors and soloists.
There are a variety of levels of involvement available. Join the Mahler Syndicate from £1,500 and show your support to the work of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Previous concert syndicates include the Verdi Circle, which supported the performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s epic Messa de Requiem, under the baton of Maestro Edward Gardner on Thursday 3 November 2016.
