Elgar The Music Makers Listen

Enjoy a transatlantic programme of vibrant choral and orchestral works in the first evening of music at this year’s Three Choirs Festival.

Copland’s iconic Fanfare for the Common Man opens the evening in celebratory fashion, leading on to music from two composers who have continued and transformed Copland’s American musical tradition. Nico Muhly’s Senex Puerum Portabat is a chance to hear the full expressive range of the Three Choirs Festival Chorus, while Stephen Paulus’s Sea Portraits paint scenes of the mesmerising moods of the ocean.

Closing the programme, Elgar’s The Music Makers takes tunes from all his best-loved works to form a reflective ode that celebrates creativity in all its forms.
