Colin Matthews The Great Journey

Baritone Roderick Williams takes centre-stage in this performance of Colin Matthews’s The Great Journey.

Telling the story of the disastrous journey of a 16th-century Spanish conquistador, the music is filled with drama and excitement that bring the tragic scenes to life.

Before two rarely-heard works by celebrated English composer Ethel Smyth, as well as a vibrant work from the current Master of the Queen’s Music, Judith Weir.
