Arts Management Training Scheme
The Philharmonia is proud to launch the first orchestral Arts Management Training Scheme, which is open to everyone and has a No CV application process.
This two-year, full-time Training Scheme offers successful applicants the opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into the operations and functions of a renowned symphony orchestra.
Delivered across four key front-facing departments: Concerts, Marketing & Communications, Learning & Engagement and Development. Trainees complete four six-month rotations, each designed to build core skills, confidence, and knowledge of arts management in the four areas of orchestral operations.
This is a hands-on, structured training programme, ideal for early-career professionals, recent graduates seeking a career in the arts and cultural sector, or those with experience who wish to refocus and shift career.
Programme Features

Employment type: full-time, fixed term for two years; Monday – Friday (35 hours per week) plus evening and weekend work as required
Salary: £25,500
Location: London Southwark head office with travel to various UK locations as required

Orchestra Unwrapped Coordinator
The Orchestra Unwrapped Coordinator will play a crucial role in the Learning & Engagement Department,
managing our flagship education work that supports our commitment to building a pipeline of exceptional
and confident musicians. This role will involve on-site project delivery, representing the Orchestra with
external partners and project participants, and facilitating our engagement with schools in London and
across the Orchestra’s UK residencies of Bedford, Leicester, Canterbury, Basingstoke.
Key Responsibilities
Planning:
- Programming and delivering our schools’ concerts, including our flagship Orchestra Unwrapped series
- Preparing and scheduling all materials, workshops, CPD/INSET, and resources for Orchestra
Unwrapped - Planning schedules, budgets, and programmes for projects commissioned by music hubs and schools
Execution:
- The delivery, monitoring, and reporting of Orchestra Unwrapped
- Being the first point of contact for school partners, presenters, conductors, and general queries
- Designing and allocating seating plans, ticketing, and coordinating school-based contributions to
Orchestra Unwrapped (artwork, sit in sessions, etc) - The delivery, monitoring, and reporting of commissioned education projects
- Managing project budgets as above
- Responsibility for commissioning participation pieces and bespoke pieces for concerts
- Deliver workshops and CPD for teachers, monitoring and reporting on quality and feedback
Collaboration:
- Fixing and supporting the players, facilitators, and presenters within the projects, and planning any
resources or briefings they need - Supporting relationships with education organisations to support all our education related work, as
appropriate - Creating management schedules for all staff involved in the concerts
Orchestra-Wide Responsibilities:
- Undertake other such duties as may reasonably be required by the line manager
Employment type: permanent, full-time, Monday – Friday (35 hours per week) plus evening and weekend work as required
Salary: £26,000 – £28,000
