Update: concert cancellations until the beginning of August 2020

Philharmonia on stage at Royal Festival Hall

Update, 13 May 2020

Three Choirs Festival, where the Philharmonia is Orchestra in Residence, has announced summer’s festival in Worcester will be postponed until 2021 (24th-31st July). Full statement here.

Update, 31 March 2020

It is with enormous sadness that we are announcing that all remaining concerts in the Philharmonia Orchestra’s 2019/20 London Season at Southbank Centre, and this season’s concerts at all UK residency venues, are cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and wellbeing of our players, visiting artists and audiences is our most important concern, and we have no choice but to make this extremely difficult decision. We are devastated that so many special memories will now not be created in the Royal Festival Hall this spring.

None of our concerts at Southbank Centre or any of our residency venues programmed until the end of June 2020, or their associated pre-concert performances and talks, will be going ahead. We hope to rearrange The English Patient Live for a future date, and when we have further details we will inform everyone who originally booked for that concert.

Audiences for Philharmonia-promoted concerts will receive email communications about ticket refunds.

Thank you to everyone who hoped to see us this season for your support, and, most importantly, we hope you stay well. We will be back, and we look forward to returning to the Royal Festival Hall stage, and to venues across the UK.

Update, 23 March 2020

Following the shutdown of venues across the UK, with enormous regret all Philharmonia concerts up to and including 18 April 2020 have been cancelled.

Audiences for Philharmonia-promoted concerts will receive email communications about ticket refunds.

We will continue to post updates about the Philharmonia programme to this page.

Thanks for your understanding at this difficult time.

17 March 2020

Following the Government announcement and advice yesterday afternoon regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel or postpone all Philharmonia Orchestra concerts this week. In addition, our European tour with Esa-Pekka Salonen next week has been cancelled due to government lockdowns across the EU.

For UK concerts, we will be in contact with ticket buyers shortly. Like many other performing arts organisations, we will be facing significant disruption over the coming weeks. We will therefore be asking ticket buyers to consider donating the cost of tickets purchased to the Philharmonia Orchestra, rather than requesting a refund.  We understand that this might not be possible for everyone but if our audiences are able to contribute in this way, it will make a significant impact on the sustainability of the Orchestra.

This decision is difficult because we live to perform for you, our audiences. But we also feel it is the right thing for us to do at this time. We want to thank all of our supporters, Friends, audience members and wider community at this challenging time. We will do everything possible to bring our music to you again as soon as possible.

We wish you all well.
