Philharmonia to perform as part of Live BBC Proms 2020

The Philharmonia performing at the BBC Proms

The Philharmonia will return to the Proms as part of the BBC’s series of live performances in September.

Recorded inside the Royal Albert Hall, these concerts will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and live-streamed on BBC iPlayer. Though the ongoing coronavirus pandemic means audiences can sadly not attend in person, the broadcasts will be free to watch and listen to.

The Philharmonia’s Prom on 9 September 2020 also marks the first time the Orchestra will be performing with its Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen since before lockdown.

Benjamin Grosvenor will perform Shostakovich’s Concerto for piano, trumpet and strings, alongside the Philharmonia’s Principal Trumpet Jason Evans.

The full programme also features Ravel’s elegiac Le tombeau de Couperin and Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony.
