Members of the Philharmonia

Join us for a celebration of the Philharmonia’s Artist in Residence, Love Ssega. Alongside members of the Orchestra, Love Ssega presents PANGEA: Act 1.

Borders only exist if we draw them. We as humans are not in charge of this planet: nature is. The climate emergency, driven by former colonial powers, has led to and will lead to even more displacement in the Global South of those who have caused the least. PANGEA: Act 1 looks to change the narrative on climate refugees and future seekers of asylum through music.

Using music, storytelling and positive imagination, Love Ssega marks the end of his residency with the Orchestra by premiering this new work with an ensemble of Philharmonia musicians, presenting a positive vision of hope to leave you thinking like future ancestors.

London-born Love Ssega has built a varied career collaborating across art forms. His music blends a mix of New Wave, 80s Hip-Hop, African polyrhythms and NYC Disco into smart, modern Pop and has been played all over the world. He is the Philharmonia’s Artist in Residence for the 2022/23 season.

Love Ssega’s residency is supported by an anonymous donor.
