A sparkling line-up, consisting of our Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali and three phenomenal British soloists, comes together for Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. This lyrical treat, not often heard in concert halls, is the first time that Nicola Benedetti, Benjamin Grosvenor and Sheku Kanneh-Mason all perform together with the Philharmonia.
Strauss’s autobiographical tone poem Ein Heldenleben (‘A Hero’s Life’) makes a powerful finale for the Basingstoke season. This rousing, defiant and intricately detailed work is the composer’s masterful comment on his own life.
