Principal Percussion

Percussion is a detonation, a resounding revolution, and percussionists are adventurers.

Portrait of Emmanuel Curt

The proof lies with Emmanuel Curt, winner of the 1996 Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique percussion and chamber music competition, past member of the Orchestre des Concerts Lamoureux and the Chamber Orchestra of Paris and current principal percussionist of the Orchestre National de France – he does not settle for limiting himself to conventional routes. His pleasure as a percussionist also comes from his love of fanfares and latin street music, a music found at the heart of his marching band Los Amarillos. In addition to the jests of Z Quartet, the audacity of Carpe Diem and the singularity of Les Dissonances, this founder and member of the ensembles IBY6-Brass and adONF is also a regular accompanist to artists such as Katia and Marielle Labèque, Bertrand Chamayou, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Maurice Bourgue and Thierry Escaich among others. A classical percussionist… but not too classical.
