“Music is the Enemy”
Iconic artists Gilbert & George famously never listen to music, declaring it ‘the enemy’.
However, for one night only they’re collaborating with us, presenting Sex, Money, Race, Religion – a unique multimedia concert.
This unique meeting of worlds will see their art and exclusive interview footage combine with live orchestral music illustrating key themes of their Art.
Sex is represented by sensuous, ecstatic music from Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde, our obsession with money is illustrated by the Dukas score that accompanied Disney’s greedy sorcerer’s apprentice, Duke Ellington addresses race, while Bach and Xenakis, respectively devout and atheist, create music inspired by their opposing approaches to religion.
This one-off event is capped with songs hand-picked by Gilbert & George.
Is music the enemy? There’s only one way to find out…
