Grace-Evangeline Mason The Water Garden (World premiere, Philharmonia commission)

Anna Clyne, our Featured Composer this season, has selected four captivating pieces for this free concert.

Nathalie Joachim’s Seen has five movements, each telling a personal story through an object that holds important memories for its original quintet of players. Anna Clyne’s own “irresistible” (The Guardian) work Overflow, vivid with the sounds of wind and waves, is inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poem By the Sea. The world premiere The Water Garden by British composer Grace-Evangeline Mason, commissioned by the Philharmonia, completes the programme.
