Philharmonia Orchestra announces second half of 2024/25 London season
Philharmonia Orchestra announces the second half of the 2024/25 London Season, under Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
Highlights include:
- Guest Conductor Marin Alsop conducting Bernstein and Piazzolla in a Latin American themed evening for Valentines Day featuring ‘Accordion Queen’ Ksenija Sidorova and UK Tango Champions Iro Davlanti-Lo and Adrien Bariki-Alaoui
- Philharmonia’s Featured Artist Nemanja Radulović: Journeys with a violin features a programme taken from his acclaimed album Roots and his signature Bach.
- Spotlighting young talent – violinist Daniel Lozakovich plays Prokofiev and Mao Fujita plays two Mozart Piano Concertos across two concerts
- Former Philharmonia Principal Conductor Riccardo Muti returns to London to conduct Verdi’s Requiem, launching the Philharmonia’s 80th birthday celebrations
- Three concerts marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Shostakovich, featuring his first and last symphonies, Symphony No. 10 and Violin Concerto No. 1: Santtu conducts Prokofiev and Shostakovich featuring Nemanja Radulović; Santtu conducts Shostakovich and Mendelssohn featuring Arabella Steinbacher and Oh To Believe in Another World an animated film by renowned artist William Kentridge set to Shostakovich 10, conducted by Marin Alsop (part of the Southbank Centre’s Multitudes festival)
- Nikolai Lugansky performs Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto before Santtu conducts Respighi’s Pines of Rome for a barnstorming season finale
