His Majesty King Charles III has retained his Patronage of the Philharmonia Orchestra
We are delighted to have received confirmation today that His Majesty King Charles III has retained his Patronage of the Philharmonia Orchestra. This follows a review of Patronages undertaken by Buckingham Palace, and an announcement to mark the first anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation.
Thorben Dittes, Chief Executive of the Philharmonia Orchestra, said, ‘We are honoured that His Majesty will continue his association of over 40 years with the Philharmonia, as we approach the Orchestra’s 80th birthday in 2025. His Majesty’s lifelong commitment to the importance of music in our cultural life was exemplified by the Coronation, where eight members of the Orchestra were proud to play as part of the Coronation Orchestra. As the Philharmonia looks ahead – to performances in the UK and overseas, to our Learning & Engagement programmes, and to our pioneering digital experiences – we are grateful for His Majesty’s support as our Patron.’
