Applications for the Philharmonia Instrumental Fellowships 2026/27 are now open.

How to apply

To apply, you will need to complete our online application form and submit your video recording by Sunday 22 March, 12am GMT.  

After completing the application form, you will be directed to complete our Equality and Diversity form. It is essential that you complete this information as fully as possible, as your application will not be processed without it.  

If you encounter any problems with the application form or have any questions, please email emergingartists@philharmonia.co.uk 

Please note that the Philharmonia will not accept any alternative applications such as CVs or video files containing spoken word.

Philharmonia Instrumental Fellowship Application Form

Application requirements

Age

Applicants must be over the age of 18. As a guide, the programme has been developed with final year undergraduates, postgraduates and those who have graduated in mind. 

Education

We welcome applicants from a range of educational backgrounds. However, we ask that you are not in the first year of undergraduate study when the programme begins. As a guide, the programme has been developed with fourth year undergraduates, postgraduates and those who have graduated in mind.

Nationality

The programme is open to applicants of all nationalities. However, if you are not a British citizen, you will need to demonstrate that you have the right to remain in the UK throughout the Fellowship.

If you are in the UK on a Tier 4 student visa, you are responsible for ensuring that you comply with the terms of your visa i.e. you are still in education and will be for the duration of the Fellowship.

The Philharmonia is unable to cover the cost of overseas travel for auditions or any part of the Fellowship.

References

You will need to supply the names and email addresses of two references at the point of application. These references will be contacted only if you are offered a Fellowship.

Through this scheme we are unable to consider applications for:

  • Formal courses of study, training or research, including postgraduate degrees
  • Lessons with your regular teacher
  • Costs associated with participating in competitions or showcases
  • One off performances, touring or recording costs
  • Instrument or equipment purchase
  • Any costs incurred prior to a Fellowship being offered
