The Philharmonia is marking 15 years of Hear and Now, and we’d love for you to be part of the celebration. 

Hear and Now is a unique, intergenerational music-making project that brings together people living with dementia and their companions, young people from grassroots community organisations, and Philharmonia musicians. Running in our residency areas of Bedford, Leicester, and London, the project is artistically led by Tim Steiner and supported by Philharmonia players. Together, participants explore music, poetry, and movement in safe, inclusive, and joyful creative sessions.

To celebrate 15 years of Hear and Now, all three groups — from Leicester, Bedford, and London — will come together for a joyful day of music-making on Sunday 31 August at Battersea Arts Centre. The day will begin with creative workshops in the morning, followed by a public sharing in the afternoon. Participants will present what they’ve created during the day, alongside highlights from the projects they’ve been part of over the past year — offering a unique glimpse into how this inspiring programme comes to life. And to round off the celebrations, we’ll enjoy a tea party (with birthday cake, of course!).
