Esther Zaglia
Violin
Esther Zaglia, born in February 2000, began studying the violin at the age of six and trained at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, where she graduated in 2017 with top marks, honours, and special distinction. Alongside her conservatory studies, she attended the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo in Italy, further developing her technical and musical foundations.
In 2019 she moved to London to begin her studies at the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Jan Repko and later with Radu Blidar. She completed her Bachelor of Music with highest honours in 2023 and her Master of Performance in 2025. Her postgraduate studies were supported by the Hamilton-Stewart and BigGive Scholarships, and she also received a scholarship from De Sono Associazione per la Musica.
She is currently a member of the Aida Trio, with whom she performs regularly in the United Kingdom. With the trio she continues her artistic development at the Accademia Stauffer in Cremona, studying with Bruno Giuranna. In 2025, the Aida Trio reached the semifinals of the OSL Annual Music Competition and attended the IMS Prussia Cove masterclasses under the guidance of Thomas Adès.
Since relocating to London in 2019, she has taken part in orchestral projects at the Royal College of Music under conductors such as Martyn Brabbins, Jac van Steen, Vasily Petrenko, and Sakari Oramo, and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. In London she collaborates with orchestras such as the London Mozart Players, has won a trial with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and has been selected for the Philharmonia Orchestra Instrumental Fellowship Programme for 2026. She has performed in major venues including Wigmore Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, and in 2023 was selected for English National Opera Evolve Scheme. She took part in the Chipping Campden Festival Orchestral Academy (2024) and was selected for the Chamber Orchestra of Europe Orchestral Academy (2025).
She is a prizewinner in numerous national and international competitions, including Città di Moncalieri, Ars Nova (Trieste), Luigi Nono, and Marco Fiorindo. In July 2025, with the Aida Trio, she won First Prize and the Special Jesús de Monasterio Award at the Arnuero International Chamber Music Competition (Spain).
