The London-based Japanese cellist became a member of the Philharmonia following a short period as an associate member. Alongside the Philharmonia, Tamaki also enjoys freelancing with other major orchestras and ensembles in the UK and is a former member of the English National Opera orchestra. She previously completed schemes with the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.

She is passionate about new music and the recent highlights include Kaija Saariaho’s Sept Papillons for Solo Cello at the Wigmore Hall, Laura Bowler’s opera The Blue Woman at the Royal Opera House, Elaine Mitchener and Friends at the Wigmore Hall and Bushra El-Turk’s opera Woman at Point Zero at the Wiener Festwochen in Vienna as well as the National Theatre of Korea in Seoul.

Tamaki studied with Melissa Phelps at the Royal College of Music where she graduated with Distinction in 2022 having previously studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Yehudi Menuhin School. Off the stage, she enjoys cooking, travelling and skiing.
