Beethoven Overture, Namensfeier
Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3
Beethoven Symphony No. 7
The programme opens with Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony – a work full of rhythmic vitality that was described by Wagner as ‘the apotheosis of the dance’.
Premiered in 1803 with a blank score (Beethoven played nearly all of the solo part from memory as he had run out of time to put it down on paper), Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto moves from a stormy opening, through a tender and lyrical middle section giving way to a delightfully comedic finale whilst at all times boasting all the piano had to offer.
